Rachel England, LMFT — San Francisco trauma therapist

My path to this work was shaped by my own experience of what it means to face what is difficult rather than find ways around it. That path taught me something that training alone couldn't: what it actually feels like to sit with what is hard, and what becomes possible when you do. In our sessions together, you'll find someone who can hold space for the complexity of being human.

My practice is shaped by personal experiences with trauma and anxiety, living with an autoimmune condition, bodywork, energy practices, intersectional feminism and ancestral healing. It is also influenced by Engaged Buddhism through the Plum Village tradition, which teaches that individual and collective healing are interdependent. When we tend to our own pain with compassion, we build our capacity to show up for the people and communities we care about. Therapy becomes one of many tools for creating the positive impact we want to see in the inside and the outside.

I work with teenagers and adults navigating trauma, anxiety, and the challenges that relationships bring. Many people come to me carrying patterns that repeat across relationships, grief that never had a witness, or a quiet sense that something is still waiting to be lived. My approach is trauma-informed and integrative, drawing on relational and psychodynamic therapy alongside body-based and trauma-focused modalities. I hold a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology and am committed to ongoing training and personal therapy.

Outside of sessions, I find restoration in reading, being in nature, traveling, and spending time with loved ones. My cats — Rio and Sagwa — are sources of joy and wonder in my life.
